Need Health Insurance?

Our Certified Application Counselors can provide you with free, in-person assistance to help you find the health coverage options that are right for you.

Helping You Apply for Insurance

Chesapeake Health Care’s Certified Application Counselors (CACs) are specially trained to provide you with free, in-person assistance when applying for health insurance.
During the Open Enrollment period (typically from Nov. 1 – Dec. 15 each year), our CACs can assist you with enrolling in a Qualified Health Plan, which is an insurance plan that is certified by the Health Insurance Marketplace and meets the Affordable Care Act requirements for coverage of essential health benefits.

If you qualify for Medicaid, you can get covered at any time of the year.

Helping You Update Your Account

Our CACs can also help you make changes to your Maryland Health Connection account when you have a “qualifying life event,” such as getting pregnant, moving, or changing your job status. Remember, you may lose benefits if your account isn’t up to date. Let us help you!

You might qualify to enroll outside the annual open enrollment period if you…
  • Get married or divorced
  • Move to Maryland
  • Get pregnant or have a baby
  • Lose your existing coverage
  • Turn 26 years old
  • Have certain changes in income

In most cases, you have 60 days from the date of the qualifying life event to enroll in new coverage.

Ready to Apply?

Have these items on hand for each person applying for coverage:

  • Birth dates
  • Social Security numbers (or other document numbers for legal immigrants)
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status
  • Tax return from the previous year
  • Employer and income information (pay stubs, W-2 forms)
  • Policy numbers for any current health insurance
  • Information about any job-related coverage you or someone in your household is eligible for
  • Photo ID, if you’re applying in person

We Can Help You Apply for Coverage!

Our Certified Application Counselors (CACs) can help you enroll in an insurance plan. Our CACs are specially trained to help you find health coverage options through the Marketplace. They will also help you complete eligibility and enrollment forms for Medicaid and help you update your account. The best part is that their services are free!

Our CACs can visit your organization to explain the benefits of the Maryland Health Connection and to help you, your employees, guests, or congregation enroll in Medicaid. We serve Wicomico, Somerset, and Worcester Counties.
