Certified Nurse Midwife

The Certified Nurse Midwife is a professional nurse who through an approved nurse midwifery program has gained additional knowledge and skill in OB/GYN and under physician supervision assists in the management of women’s health care problems and health maintenance of the community. The CNM must be certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives and licensed to practice Nurse Midwifery in the state of Maryland.  The expanded level responsibility of the Certified Nurse Midwife is within the framework of established medical guidelines or protocols jointly formulated by the supervising physician and the Certified Nurse Midwife.

The primary focus of the CNM will be the assessment and management during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum period, and gynecologic services. The CNM practices in an environment within the health care system that allow for management, consultation with and co-management of patients, or management by the physician, as appropriate.     Participates in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies and procedures. Essential Job Functions of this position include but not limited to:

  • Antepartum
  • Conducts or reviews medical history and initial physical evaluation.
  • At subsequent visits evaluates pregnancy status and health problems providing on going prenatal care and health supervision and education.
  • Evaluates and treats outpatients including monitoring fetal well-being as indicated.
  • Orders and interprets laboratory, ultrasound and fetal assessment studies.
  • Consults and refers appropriately

  • Evaluates and discharges postpartum patients with consideration for postpartum follow up care of mother and infant and individual family planning choices.
  • Assists and educates mother and family to plan care for herself and family throughout puerperium and interconceptual periods.
  • All charts will be countersigned by supervising physician.
  • Gynecologic Services
  • Evaluates and manages healthcare of non-pregnant women
  • Performs routine history and physical examinations, laboratory procedures, family planning, cancer screening.
  • Evaluates and manages menstrual irregularities, hormone replacement therapy, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases and other gynecologic conditions as appropriate.
  • Promotes patient health education and furthers continuity of educational concepts in all phases of maternity and gynecological care.
  • Counsels on HIV concerns.

Position Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school with a Master’s degree.
  • Current licensure to practice as a CNM in the State of Maryland.
  • Unrestricted prescription privileges with current CDS numbers.
  • Signed contract with supervising physician in area of practice.

Position Summary

The Internist serves as a member of the CHC provider team providing primary health care services to the adult/adolescent patients of the organization.  The Internist deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Additionally, the Internist provides consultation to other members of the health care delivery staff.  Internists shall be qualified to serve on the active Medical Staff of hospitals utilized by CHC to provide inpatient services, assume “on call” after hours duties and supervise staff nurse practitioners and physician assistants. OB/GYN Salisbury MD

The OB/GYN serves as a member of the CHC provider team providing women’s health care services to female patients of the organization.  They are responsible for general medical care for women, but also provide care related to pregnancy and the reproductive system. The OB/GYN will focus on ailments specific to the female anatomy, such as breast and cervical cancer screening, urinary tract and pelvic disorders, and hormonal disorders. The OB/GYN also specializes in childbirth, treating and counseling women throughout their pregnancy, from giving prenatal diagnoses to delivery and postpartum care. The OB/GYN tracks the health of, and treats, both mother and fetus during pregnancy. Women’s Health CRNP

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide medical care focused on reproduction and gynecology for women from adolescence through menopause. Practices under the standard procedure established for the WHNP role consistent with Company policy and in accordance with all legal requirements

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Practices under the stand procedure establish for the WHNP role in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Experience with IUDs, Nexplanon, and pessaries.
  • Conducts age – appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy
  • Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
  • Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure effective patient care consistent with quality indicators for patients cared for in the designated service.
  • Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies under established protocols.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
